At Pawsatively Rewarding, the focus is on fun. All
classes are taught with a clicker (though a marker word
can be used if you prefer). The clicker really facilitates
learning and sets you and your dog up for success.
"Train Naked" is one of my favorite sayings. While there
are times when it's important to have your dog on a
leash, you shouldn't need it to train. The way I train, your
dog can be collar-less and off leash and there should be
no difference at all in how your dog performs. (Dogs will
be on leash in classes for safety reasons.)
I came about clicker training after I got my first dog, Risa.
She was very shy, fearful, and dog reactive. I wasn't sold
on it at first but quickly changed my mind when I saw how
quickly her behavior changed for the better. Not to
mention there's seemingly nothing you can't teach with
this little plastic noisemaker!

After attending several obedience classes with Risa, I started assisting classes with my
trainer. I worked along Helene Tiefenthaler, CDBC, CPDT-KA at Kritterkare's Paws-a-
tively Canine assisting her Head Start (puppy) classes as well as a class in
conformation from 2007-2008. I have also attended several seminars including
Andrea Dugan (2008), Ali Brown (2009), and Kathy Sdao (2010). I also went to
ClickerExpo in March of 2009. I am a volunteer trainer with Dogs2Vets, an
organization that helps veterans train their own psychiatric service dogs.
Risa is a 7-year old mixed breed that I
rescued from a shelter in July of 2006.
We have done several canine musical
freestyle demos together and we
actively compete in WCFO freestyle.
She currently has her W-MF/FD
(beginner) title and one leg towards
her novice. Risa and I have also
recently started trialing in AKC rally.
She has her RN title.
